Our current exhibit is up! And I wanted to bring you a little bit further into
The Back Alleys of Paradise
This particular exhibit is Tab Hujar's premiere solo show.
Hujar’s artwork is an exploration in dreamscapes, "similar to the work of William Blake and Frida Kahlo in it’s surreal qualities" (Rachel Caldwell, Exhibit Curator).
That’s the beautiful thing about art isn’t it?
It can express the intangible depths of the human soul, and with surrealism in particular, it taps into places our minds can usually only visit when unconscious.
Not everyone can slip back into that dream-state when they are awake, but certain artists really seem to tap into that deeper level of consciousness. But when you take a good look at the work created by Hujar, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported into those deeper places. Hujar speaks of this in her indiegogo campaign: [https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-back-alleys-of-paradise#/ ]
“I tell stories with my images, like choreographing each color and shape into a poignant moment from a strange dream. While each one has it's own meaning for me, I invite the viewer to see what is triggered in their own mind; a surreal Rorschach test for the imagination."-Tabitha Hujar
I love that even her studio seems to feel like a place one might dream up:
That you so much for visiting and I'll talk to you again soon!
